    I made my own measuring stick. I got an ahesive tape measure. It's up to 4' I believe. I cut it at 3'. I attached it to a pvc stick that is weighed down so the tape is always facing up as long as possible. Tie a string to it and ur all set.

    If any of your firewood planiceps happen to unfortunately die from old age or other factors would you use them as firewood? Just a sorta funny idea that popped up.

      :) From what I read and imagined, the south americans would throw them on the banks and the sun would dry them up. IDK if they rotted or began to rot first and then got dried or if the sun was strong enough to dry them first. Then these dried mummified bodies were used for firewood.

    Hey Victor, I have some questions and things that I forgot to ask last Sunday, as well as things that go along with a few of other viewers comments: 1. What was that big tank it looked like you were building near the back? Was that the 10k I saw you mention in the past? 2. I don’t it’s hard and can’t really do it, but if you can somehow ship fish or get someone to help deliver them to me here in Ohio, I’d be more than happy to buy/adopt some fish to make a little more room. Like some of the Jerks or other fish. If you can’t ship or find any helpers then no worries.

    • @Fish-Story
      @Fish-Story 10 минут назад

      Yes, that was the unfinished 10K. The shipping fee and my inexperience with shipping prohibit me from offering shipping to prospective adopters. It's always been pickup only. I do appreciate your consideration though, thank you!

    Vic, would you say scaleless fish are more susceptible to infection, such as walking catfish, clown loache and the like, I always worry for them when adding treatments ???

    • @Fish-Story
      @Fish-Story День назад

      IME catfish on average are no different from scaled fish when it comes to withstanding meds. I almost never make any med dose corrections for catfish, except for rare exceptions, e.g. gulper catfish... and there are more sensitive fish in every class of fish - it pays to know who they are and what the complicating factors are before a treatment.

    Yay, the walking catfish will be back!😃 Thinking back to what happened with the original walking catfish and Kuma in June 2018, I hope this one doesn't end up becoming a snack for Fun-Size Kuma. I will never stop thinking about the walking catfish columnaris outbreak from 2018 when I watch this fish's videos going forward, though. That was brutal - good that you are taking some more measures against disease potential here.

    • @Fish-Story
      @Fish-Story День назад

      We got 11 catfish back then in 2018 and Kuma ate probably 4-5 before I had enough and transferred it to the jumbo 4500. Right now it's too small/slender even for the 1800. ... Yes, losing 25% of fish was hurtful enough to remember.

    • @KuhliLoachTrainer
      @KuhliLoachTrainer День назад

      One of the walking catfish that survived Kuma stayed head first inside the mouth overnight didn't it? It really speaks to the toughness of walking catfish in my opinion, that one according to the walking catfish thread was only slightly banged up and didn't need to be taken out while Kuma's equivalent event ended up with it getting its hindquarters skinned and nearly being killed! That thread also said the walking catfish that did survive until the September 2019 inspectors found them reached and even slightly exceeded 2 feet while getting quite thick as well. If this one gets to that size at one point or another, I think you would be greenlit to put it in the Fun-Size Kuma 4500/17K liter, considering a catfish like Tiggy the surubi is fine in there and he is only 20 inches while probably not as thick as an adult walking catfish. In fact, I think I actually quite like the idea of a Clarias/Brachyplatystoma combo! When this one clears quarantine, may I suggest growing it up with the zebra shovelnoses prior to its transfer to the 1800/7K liter with Dora and then hopefully the Fun-Size Kuma+piramutaba 4500/17K liter if big enough? That way there can be at least 2 and up to 4 of such intriguing combos:) Last but not least, in your opinion would now be a good time to pick a name? I'm thinking a reference to the classic joke about the chicken crossing the road - with appropriate modifications made for a walking catfish crossing a parking lot - might be appropriate.🤪

We welcome any help in acquiring new tanks ;) Yes, a tank with FL fish has been in the plans for many years and this year we finally got a collector's license but there is no good tank to dedicate to it. Omg the Tiger Oscar’s are beautiful with all that orange. Yep that’s definitely breeding behavior. I bet you’ll get eggs laid on those rocks and that’s why they are hanging there. Mine is doing the same thing right now and it’s the only Oscar in my tank with Severums and other S Americans.

    • @Fish-Story

      @@Fish-Story so it pretty interesting because she chases everyone else away from her favorite rock EXCEPT my 2 male gold Severums! She shakes her tail and head…bites at her rock and the Severums just hang around and watch her closely. Everyone else gets chased by her. I’m worried though and hope this breeding behavior stops soon since she’s getting pretty aggressive which I hate. She’s normally so chill but now shoes just mean! Anyways she basically has 2 Severum boyfriends! 🤣

      @@tracycarter1185 That's interesting and, sorry, funny! Are oscars known to hybridize with severums at all? I've never heard of this but I am cichlid-challenged.

      @@Fish-Story yes it is funny! Totally ok to laugh. And no I’ve never heard of an Oscar being able to have babies with a Severum (or anything else for that matter). So I don’t think I’ll be getting any babies thankfully! With my luck my Oscar will be the first to ever hybridize Noooooo!!!! Lmao

    How is my favorite fish the high fin doing? I haven’t even gotten a glance of her in the last few videos although when you run to rehome a fish I sure do look. Haha. Love all your fish Vic but that high fin is extraordinary. Just fascinating to me. I’ve never ever seen one so big and beautiful. You do such a great job and I enjoy every video you put out. I watch every second of every one. From Western Pa with cyber love ❤ thanks for sharing your fishes.

      I beg to differ but do value your great attention to our primitive operations here. The hi-fin has been good. Sometimes it gets a bit hungry because the eels are pigs but we try to compensate. They appear to be very slow growers. I don't think it added even one inch since the last update on it.
